Well damn. You barely have any contact area on the rotor, and then take away all the missing surface area because of the giant worthless holes…that’s your problem..

There's plenty of meat on the pads.......they're barely worn.
Maybe I'll do it all again and really clean the Pistons.
Then see what happens!
when my mate said clean discs, drilled, change padsi thought bs pads look new. did what he said . wow what an improvement but mine are stock brakes

I would think the larger pistons would grab more rotor surface.
As for next rotor size.......it MIGHT take the 11.5".
Ill.have to check clearance.
HOWEVER.........this still does not address the REAR brake which is behaving exactly like the front.
I'm gonna go clean rear caliper now.
I'll keep ya posted!

I have never seen P&M brakes deliver good stopping power, not when they are old at least. You gotta get the correct disc before progressing though.

I thought PMs were co sidereal top of the ofne almost.
Anyway........I pulled rear caliper.
What a fking mess with grease!!!
How could grease migrate there?
Also........only 3 of the 4 pistons is worki g properly.
I decreased them with brake cleaner, soap and water,, dried them off.
water.
Now I gotta figure on how to release that stuck piston.
Maybe I can send them bk tp PM for refurbishment.
OR........just buy new new brakes altogether!
But I hate to just get rid of these if they can be salvaged.
Also ........while extending the pistons one completely popped out so I've gotta re-bleed the rear line.
Anyone k ow how to proceed on a stuck pistons?
It comes out a little but not all the way.....maybe 1/3rd.

You have just found out why I do not like them...I have seen a lot of what you have found on PM and Wilwood...not the fault of the manufacturers but rather a lack of maintenance and cleaning.

To get the pistons out (all of them) grab a pair of piston extraction grips (they grip the inside of the piston and so don't mark the outer surfaces) and work them out, if one doesn't rotate, then it isn't going to come out until you can rotate it and so you need heat and penetrating oil...and an overhaul kit. It is not that easy, even if the piston is not stuck, so you'll need a vice, jaw protectors and a good repertoire of anglo-saxon swear words.

Softail 4-piston calipers work great and takeoffs are cheap. You just have to fabricate a tab on the swingarm and maybe clearance on a shock mount.
