S&S is a good engine, and it burn pump gas good regular or high test sounds good and run like bat out of hell
it's an SH 93, but it's very efficient

To answer the question in the title I would say it depends on the buyer but you'll never get your money back on the engine. I recently bought a 98 Electra Glide EVO with a 96" S&S crate engine with an HSR carb, I paid $9K Canadian ready to ride, if I were to buy just the engine itself in my dollars it would cost me $10K Canadian. So the seller lost his shirt and I paid maybe the same as what it would cost to buy a stock evo powered bike.

An S&S would not only devalue it for me, it would be a deal-breaker.

Any bike with an aftermarket engine if the buyer has half a clue say's it's beat on and rode hard, you add ponies and not use them. Be a very small select group or a young dewey eyed clueless hot to trot newbie who would be willing to chance one. And I'm seeing more and more of the last type coming in other forums and SM platforms trying figure out what they got themselves into. Worse of it is they do not want to hear what you tell them.

This is the first non-matching numbers bike I bought but its also not a desirable bike like a shovel or pan, its disposable and I can move the engine to the next bike if and when the time comes. The price was right, I wanted a hot rod and it had other cool stuff done to it that appealed to me. One of those rare cases of someone else's custom touches fitting the next buyers wants. I love it.

Only S&S part on mine is the Air Cleaner cover...and that was on it when I bought it, I got rid of the Super G as soon as I bought it and put a CV40 on.
