Bottom Line...As a Collectable max value Piece...All Parts should be O.E.
As a Rider...Think of it as Not Quite a Chopper..Which...IDK if Choppers are Harleys....BullShit...I do Know..
Think what you want...Ride what you Want...don't expect Everyone to Agree with Your Choices...Nor Certainly, Opinions...I don't

To answer the original question if an S&S motor lowers the value of a bike: It all depends on the value of the bike before installing the S&S. IF it's a 99 point restoration, then of course it lowers the value. If it's a high mileage rider, probably not, and may improve that particular bike. So like most valuation questions 'it depends".

The S&S would not bother me buying a rider, and I wouldn’t have a problem with 5/7k investment.
the architecture is still HD with improvement on the design in most cases, it should last longer then a 40 plus year old case.
The Blueprint crate engine in my Truck, is this same Ideal, it’s actually not a 350 Chevy, it’s cast by Blueprint, with modern technology and metallurgy, it’s a better block then a 50 year iron block ever could be.

dont agree the early 350 Chevy 4 bolt HI po engine block can handle 750HP for 5 years drag racing and going many rounds every weekend
the 4 bolt BBC engine early block drag racing we use the same engine and at the time we had a 2 bolt 427 we made is a 511 put a 3100 pound nova in the low 9s for 12 years with out a rebuild in super gas NHRA — super gas is 9:90 but you need room in all weather across the country
the new **** at the track lasts maybe 3 years LS what ever - sold the race car last month had it 25 years it was time fun stuff wheels up leaving

it’s not that there isn’t some SBC good cores out there, there’s just not a lot of them, even with the millions made and that is a huge problem for the companies that need the same tolerances 1000’s of time per month.
it was way cheaper for me to buy the blueprint crate, it’s based on SBC not LS, for my project it’s the base 4 bolt 350, made 360 hp they guarantee 340 dropped it in. Didn’t have to align bore, bore or deck the block or even hot tank it for that matter, 5k shipped oil pan to air cleaner and ran on a Dyno
