Found a 71 FX I couldn't say no to

Congrats Joe!
Note the rear foot pegs, same as my 71. Your's being an early (not sure how early) 72 it has the front master for the rear brake and the license plate bracket has the welded on extension to provide space for the 72 rear reflector. Rare bike, technically more rare than a 71 because the boat tail in 72 was only made for the first 3 months of production before switching to it being an option with the Sporty rear fender being standard.
I should've bought that one too

Hello to all participating in this thread. I know I’m late to the show but thought I might be able to provide a little information about Harley’s boat tail motorcycle if someone wants it. I drove mine off the showroom floor on October 13, 1970 and sill have it, and yes I’m old. The bike has gone through several modifications, repaints and “chops” in the 54 years I’ve owned it but currently being put back like I bought it. Not trying to do a 99 point restoration, but rather get it back on the road before I’m too old the kick it over. I’ve enjoyed reading the conversation here and really just want to say thanks.

Picked up a few correct parts to make my bike more correct.
The side stand (on the left) looks like it came from a tin primary bike and lacked the dowel sticking out of it. I found the shifter cover is NOS as is the shifter peg. which was a bonus. I picked up two mirrors with harley davidson stamped on the stems. I'll put them on as well.

I tried epoxy and some other goop, falls right off, that is why it is in the windshield bag. But when the chrome ***** needs an extra point from the judges, we are prepared!!!!!!
