These are some extras he threw in along with a front head I wanted for my 72 because of a broken fin that irritates me every time I see it.
The number 1 decal is a good score but the key and cylinder could be too. I thought the ignition took a Briggs and Stratton marked key or is that only for the older pans and knuckles?
My 49 3100 Chevy also has Briggs key, it’s stamped GM so I think it’s original, it was built in Janesville, Wi. Making B&S a local supplier, don’t know the significance of Harvey’s maybe a dealer stamping?

In the same week the 71 was offered 3 days laster an early 72 was also offered to me for a little less and not as nice. I may regret not getting it as well . It's different being early with the front master cylinder and correct 72 plate bracket but everything aluminum (aluminium to you) was chromed.

Front stoplight switch (with terminals) may be #71900-70 which I think was introduced for the FL/FLH as of late-69 models. In my 61–71 H-D catalog it’s listed as also being available for use on the 71FX.
Run number H34 on the left axle clip is consistent with 71 as I indicated earlier.
For the die number on the R-H clip I suggested approximately 58 but I also mentioned there seemed to be something unusual going on there because I hadn’t recorded any in the 60s yet. After 58 the next I knew of was 71 and then there was 72, 73, 75, 77 and 78. I don’t know if they used 59 or not but maybe for some reason they skipped 60-69? And if they did then it would seem die number 70 is consistent with a 71 model, especially when combined with run number H34 on the left clip.
Earlier I mentioned a few things to look for in the VINs, including a possible difference in the width of the Cs. But I forgot to mention there may also be a difference in the width of the Hs.
Does the jiffy stand on your 72 have a rubber (?) tip over the end? The rubber (?) tip is #50052-70 and available for use on 70-later models which indicates that type of stand was introduced for 70.
What’s going on with the R-H end of the rear axle? And does it have something to do with the left end appearing to not stand proud of the nut?
On the chainguard support it looks like the hole for the bolt was drilled off-centre. Was that normal around 71 or could it indicate the chainguard is AM?
After 47651-58, the lower R-H rear forging appears to have 16? If so, that’s what I suspected it may have although I still don’t know what it indicates. I’ve seen 16 on frames made as early as Dec 68 and as late as Jan 73.
On the lower left rear forging I expected 47654 65 but after it you may find the number 1?
Do you have Service Bulletin 614A which mentions the carb, ignition timing and compensating sprocket? And Service Bulletin 630 which mentions the rear brake hydraulic line? If not I can post them.

You're right, I don't know where I got the flat rear foot peg info from but thanks for everything else!. The seller text me and said he had a pair of NOS flat rear pegs he's going to mail me, another freebie.
Funny thing about when I was there to check it out. He mentioned how to start it and that it isn't easy but try no choke, 3 pumps and kick it. Well I thought I'll show him. Told him my 72 is one kick hot or cold and I have the routine down to a tee. Cold start gets 4 pumps, full choke, 2 prime kicks then 3/4 choke, key on and kick it. Works every time. He said if the bike starts on one kick he'll discount the price. 40 kicks later it started. I told him this is what happens if you're at the bar and everyone is watching as you go to leave.
I'll post pics of the forging numbers and look at them closely to determine exactly what they say.
