Problem with plastic gears is they are gears made of plastic.

Yet the speedo drive on all 45s is plastic and is never an issue - as well as the front drive Indian chief speedo gear is a baker lite type material and is never an issue

having said that a moron can destroy a rail road rail used as a paper weight

Yeah, that one is well done, nice smooth edges on the opening. The other one is rough as a cob, as in something may have damaged it. And if that is the case, where did the damaged metal fragments go?

I will check them but usually leave them along unless stoking the engine which affects when the breather needs to open and close for scavenging efficiency.
