A kicker arm I have looks more like what it should have shape-wise. The length is the same.
The tab on the outer primary for a foot board. Logic says it shouldn't be there - easy enough to make that go away or replace the outer. I've seen FX's on line some with a tab some without.
I also noticed three rear brake pedal / master combos. One could be a cobble job. 71 has the pedal come out under the y-pipe with a front mounted master cylinder, 72 over the Y pipe when the master moved to the rear and I saw one last night with a front mounted master and an over the pipe pedal and the rod went down on an angle to the master pivot linkage like a bell crank. Seems like these bikes were a hodge podge of parts they had on hand or that third one was a bubba creation.

My FX parts book has three stock rear brake arrangements. Original 71-early 72 had the funky pedal with a bellcrank and front master, late 72 improved the pedal but kept the bellcrank and front master, and 73-78 got the same later pedal but with rear mounted master. You probably have the parts book but here are the pages:

^^ Need to remember that the first FX's (1971-2) were simply FL's with Sportster fron end literally slapped on... some half-hearted attempt to resemble Mid controls as well!! by 1973, the MoCo decided the SuperGlide was well received...and began to refine it!!!
So... makes sense the '71-2 models have more FL parts and controls, than FX... (Front end and Fenders basically)
