you don’t know anything about me or my bikes , you ride your junk and I will continue to enjoy mine. I’m gonna stick with open belt because I know what works best.

Best to ignore him, he is one of those "experts" that knows everything about belt drives even though having never had one..........I think many call those type.....TROLLS.

My 62 FL had one, my 54 chopper has one and a newly acquired 72 FX has one.

only my 79 glide has an enclosed belt & is the only one I have had to change the belt on, all others I have never had to change & they were all open

Changed both belts on the 81 Sturgis last winter, just as a precaution. The primary belt had the original factory part number on it, so because it might be 40 years old I changed it.

Especially the rear belt is quite a job.

the rear belts a pain to change so always run a chain final drive as its easy to change & i dont mind maintaining or cleaning it,...

my guess is you never worked on any of them or you would know the clutch hub bearing is NOT lubricated by the same oil the primary chain is. Keep on and continue to let everyone on to what you don’t know.

I'm Sure I have a Very good looking O.E. Primary belt for the original Sturgis, around here... LMK if ya think you Need it...

I'm good, thanks ! The belts I took of the 81 looked good, but since its my regular ride I changed them for new ones just to be on the safe side. Looking at how narrow the belts are on the new M8s, my new modern belts should be way over engineered. Confidence enspiring so to speak.
