78 FLH Tail Light Help
I got rear-ended a few weeks ago (low speed) and I have to replace my turn signal bar and rear tail light. I pulled off the old lights no problem, but I can't get the new or old light to work. All lights worked when I pulled them off the bike, they were just damaged. The green wire on top and non-connected, black wire on the bottom left have 12v going to them and they are hot. I know I have single wire turn signals, but I can't get anything to turn on with the ignition on or in run.
The wiring diagram doesn't show those two extra black wires that ran into the turn signal bar. I didn't see where they were connected when I was pulling it apart because the piece was broken. The extra black wires on the bottom just had some electrical tape on them. Do they need to be connected to something to complete the circuit?
The Clymer and factory manual were no help. The headlight and everything else electrical works, so I don't think it is a fuse or relay.
Any help would be appreciated.

It looks like a bad ground. I got it working with a new LED bulb.
The replacement turn signal bar from Dennis Kirk is now an issue. The holes don't quite line up. Reading through the reviews it seems like a common complaint. I will probably have to drill some new holes in the fender.
Thanks for the help and replies.

I ordered the rear turn signal bar off DK too and while it fit my fender the turn signals have a slight downward tilt. I didn't notice it until I had everything else bolted up. It was supposed to be replacement for OEM part number 68510-74C but don't believe that.
I will be looking for an original part but will run this one while I look.
