Think it is really a crap shoot, even if you were to get it at $500 cash USD. Looking at the mainshaft side and the first thing that comes to mind for me is that the chain came apart and trashed the dog ears (probably because he was hammering the bike and doing stupid $hit). If you are going to move forward on this (I would pass) the lid needs to come off so that you can inspect the internals as well as the shifter mechanism. I would suggest the price reflects the fact that the seller knows the gears or the shifter got trashed and locked up when $hit happened and is trying to get from under a busted tranny and pass the rebuild costs onto someone else.
