Default Ignition upgrade 1983 FXR

Time to replace my original V fire II ignition. Ultima 53-644 is the way I want to go, this is just the electronic module keeping the system dual fire. Ultima sells a kit 53-660 that includes a single fire coil, wires etc. I can buy just the module for around $140 or the whole single fire kit for $190. Is their single fire coil any good? It is a single unit with two plug wires and 3 terminals, one for switched ignition power, one for front cylinder and one for rear cylinder.

Some on here say the coils are suspect (China). I run the single fire ignition, I already had a coil. Bike runs great but I would source a different coil.

I'm going to keep things dual fire and use my new DC6-1 3 ohm coil. I found Dynatek 2000i from a good source for the price of the Ultima 53-644.

I thought the Dynatek 2000i and the Ultima 53-644 were the same.
Now that I have been able to find the advance curve for both units, I see that the Ultima has a more aggressive curve, curve #1 shows full advance of 34 degrees at 2500RPM. The Dynatek curve #1 looks like full advance of 35 degrees at 3000 RPM. My manual has full advance of 35 degrees at 2000 RPM, which curve is better for a stock bike?

Stock, sooner is better, gets the engine into its usable power range quickest. Some cams like a higher RPM curve, they don't start making HP till 3000 or later.

D2ki or 53-644 Ultima are different in the advance curves but both good units. Maybe they better than used to be, but the coils in the kit (Ultima) are, or were junk, short out and die first time they get wet.

Where the rub is - if you wanna use a kicker, you have to buy a programming cable and change them to zero dead revs, otherwise you'll be hard pressed to kick it thru fast enough for it to start. They're both preset to 3 dead revs.

You also need a VOES to get the full driveability out of it, or you can ground the module wire for it and it'll advance like flyweights on a points setup.

Why do you run the Ultima 53-644 instead of the Dynatek 2000i on your shovels, other than price point? Do you static time your Ultima or dynamic time?
