OEM panhead like that one -- those speedos today cost up wards of $700.00 to do minor repairs and tuning / lubing

china re pop is 80 bucks to buy - it becomes a cost like changing the oil

Aftermarket not worth repairing, seriously cheaper buying another. My shovels ate it's share of them too.

To get inside you need to gently pry the face ring off by working your way around the ring on the backside with the face down prying up the crimped over little lip, flat blade screwdriver and some patience is how I've done them to change the faces.

I remember back in the 60's there was a company called Paramount in California that repair the HD stock speedo. All the did was replace the face and glass. What a rip off.

John Bordas in Texas is the man on OEM speedo repairs. He’s a good guy. He’s done a couple of speedos for me. Costs around $250 for an overhaul. As previously stated aftermarket speedos aren’t worth repairing.

the rarity of the speedo in question dictates the cost - a 1 year knuckle is not the same as a flat side shovel from john but he has always been fair to us

The tombstone speedo is fairly common. My fear is the scarcity of parts for them. When they’re gone, they’re gone. He told me some time ago that a lot of his vendors that machine parts for him have retired. Problem across the board.
