Default 76 FXE Clutch Adjusting Srew Nut Question

Thanks for everyone's help on my other posts. I'm actually progressing right along.

1. What is pictured/subject nut torqued too?? Do you use locktite on this nut?? (White arrow)
2. When does the adjusting screw come into play? Didn't see (or couldn't find) anything in the manual on it. (Red arrow)
Thanks in advane!!

1. snug to tight, no loctite
2. that puts a little slack in the clutch pushrod so there isn't pressure on the throwout bearing when the clutch is engaged.

if that's not in your manual, you have the wrong manual. you should be using a factory service manual not Haynes or Clymer.

the arm correct location is 1/2 inch off the starter for the correct travel and fulcrum

we bring it in the screw till its just influencing the throw out bearing then back off till its just loose - tighten nut with out turning the screw

then you adjust the cable that is total loose so it has no influence in the first start adjustment above
