Honestly I do! Not saying the evo is terribly ugly or nothing it just seems to lack character...

Character????? Didja look one post up???

BTW, Just because I prefer a Shovelhead for Showing Off... I love me an Ironhead for the Look and The Sound!!!
And an EVO to "Go Someplace"... Note ... No mention of anything Newer... I do Not approve of those Soulless Beasts..

My Shovelhead deserves a Break from Everyday, senseless Miles... Had her From Showroom New... Not a Midlife Decision!!!

lol ya buddy they are fast and I been riding the same shovelhead since I was 16 years old and my dad owned the bike since 85 and now I’ll own it until I die I love 60-84 bikes..and I’m not taking anything away from evos but there isn’t one mile on my shovelhead that is senseless. Simply because the way I feel on the bike,,,I’ve rode many fxr evos and they have a different feel to them I can’t really explain why I feel different on new bikes but I feel like a dork ...maybe it’s the riding position I don’t really know but it’s just my opinion at the end of the day... and evo have a place in some people garage just not mine ....

Skipped the EVO all together... right to the Twin Cam... because they really did want to "Go Someplace" worry Free.. and Not put Senseless Miles on a trusted old Friend!!! Luckily... being in Drag Racing, I found the EVO... a New Trusted Friend.. With Steel Cylinders, and a Touch of compression, they sound More like a Shovelhead than the Typical "New" Shovelhead!!!!
I'm one of those guys and I still have that tee shirt somewhere. I skipped 2 generations of engines just because they didn't talk to me on that gut level and honestly if the moco hadn't come out with the M8 when it did I'd probably be riding a Triumph Thunderbird LT as my commuter right now and I've been on harleys 40 odd years now.

Funny thing, I never once worried about the old shovel as my daily or road trips, did my maintenances, took care of little things and rode that bike all over this country, 1st 2 years I spent in cali I put 60K including a 7K Sturgis trip on her wearing out all the fine roads we have.

think they may have lost a lot of customers behind that
They definitely should have recalled the earliest TCs with link chains since the guide area was too small.
The ones with roller chains easly go 100K since once rolling on guides, wear stops.
Chains are pleanty accurate enough for under 6k motor and have nothing to do with crank position sensor for accurate electronics.

I have beat Harley for years on that on here. Really think it's a dead one now.. Long gone history.

Treated right like a cruiser of old, even a link chain one will go a long time on OEM guides.

My 04 at 50k still has the original. I would have changed them out long ago but I am never around in winter months for the last 7 years.
Not worn out but I am sure very brittle and way overdue.

And to add...I really like the iron head as well if I was to ever get another bike well beside another fxr I would get a iron head because they do sound good with the right things done ....again in my opinion

yeah it looks good but you painted the cylinders black like shovelhead so you bit off a piece of the shovelhead to bring it up to snuff but all and all a nice evo

What does the bolded even mean? All the regular Shovelheads I've seen look pretty much the same (beautiful) to me also. So do all the Panheads and all the Knuckleheads.
