Default Neutral light and gen light stay on

Just replaced the dash from a five light to three light on a 1969 FLH. Only change made with wiring was to move the turn signal indicators to a different location. Now the neutral light stays on (probably grounding somewhere) and the generator stays on as well. As it's running the gen light will get bright for a second then back to normal. Think I fried the regulator?

Sounds to me like you have to fix your ground/wiring issues before you can do any more troubleshooting. Start with the wiring under the dash.

the gen light is a 12 volt direct through the bulb holder that is not grounded to the plate - the china replacement is a snap in 2 wire deal that is grounded to the plate - look at the wire diagram again see how the current goes in at out to the generator

What the guys above are saying is... all of the bulb sockets in the dash, are not the same.. neutral, and oil, and??? gen ??? I Do not remember..
place a Ground on the socket to light them... the other signals use 12v.... Study carefully... as this means the oil/neutral [maybe gen??] are always "hot" at the socket..

Did you make sure you flashed the + wire from your generator to ensure the polarity is correct. In the manual on how to do it. Also I would pull off the dash cover. If the lights were functioning correctly before you changed over it should be easy to chase the source of the problem.

Oh........and you are sure you wired the switch correctly? Maybe post up a pic?

Thanks for the replies...had surgery on the 5th and have been recovering. Today was the first day I had a chance to do some poking around on the bike. The switch looks to be wired correctly...I'm putting the old switch back on anyway. I'm guessing the dash may be my problem. Probably should compare it to the old dash. On the polarizing...when I put it back together, I think I did forget to polarize it. Normally I don't forget, but it was late and tired from work, plus a bit grumpy with looking forward to that surgery.
I can follow a wiring diagram pretty good, but if there is a problem...I get stumped. I don't really understand electricity very well. It's kinda like magic to me. You'd think after 40 plus years I'd retain some of this.
I'll try to add some pics as I go through it.
Again, thank for the replies!
