I found the oil cooler that I have since I wondered why my inlet/outlet were at the top and there were no markings on the cooler....it is a Vintage Lockhart Racing Oil Cooler....
Description:
Very hard to find vintage lockhart 4-rail racing oil cooler. This model has the screw-in type 1/4" NPT oil fittings which makes for easy custom oil line configurations. Can use conventional rubber hose or Hi-performance AN style fittings with stainless hose. Great for most any bike needing extra cooling as well as all types of racebikes or cafe bikes. This is a OEM quality component used on many factory racebikes back in the early days of superbike racing!

I can figure it out if one outlet is lower than the other, but with both on the bottom, top, or side, does it really matter?...me think it flows through with pressure. Don't think coolers are directional i.e. oil can only travel one way, but I can be wrong. If it does only flow one way, mine has no marking as to which is in or out.

And furthermore... there certainly are Directional Oil Coolers... The Ones with the oil filter inside come to mind!!!
I have used this one
The other side of it has a removeable plate where the filter goes in..
Also...any remote filter ...even spin on, are a kind of oil cooler as well...
