^^ I'm gonna guess you need an '80's Heritage Softail, Drive unit... Remember, the Unit is a Spacer too... sometimes [like on a Spriger] specific to the Model.

So I think I was able to dig up an answer to my own question. Luckily I have a legit mate dealership worth of manuals from the 80's and 90's. (perks of being a previous HD employee) according to the late 80s early 90s softail parts manual the number I need is 67125-86A. This was used on the FL softails. I don't know what I was thinking trying to use the one I had. it wasn't even right handed. Guess I'm ordering a new drive unit and speedo to match. I wish I didn't like these old bikes so much.

I do too, but only the front end is Heritage, the rest is 77 and earlier miss mosh. This is actually the least of the problems this bike has given me. Back on the speedo drive note, am I gonna need flush mount rotor bolts? I've never run a wheel driven speedo, only Tranny. I assume this correct drive unit I ordered will solve the entire issue but I don't wanna get it in and realize i should've also ordered rotor bolts. On a positive note the speedo they had on the bike is 2:1 so it should work with the wheel drive.

LOL, and Now ya know there won't be no Mixing of '77 Parts on that late Front end... Huh?
It certainly would have been easier if ya had an FL [or at least all of the FL guts] Tranny... You would be done with the Speedo anyway..

Cap off the tranny drive and install one on the front wheel where it belongs. Case closed.
