I broke down and bought a non-harley part but not for lack of trying to get an original. I was outbid this week on an original one that was pretty clean but had a dent in it, seems most have a dent in the edge like its contacting the arm or the frame depending on the application. On the bright side I bid it up to $128USD so the guy paid for it. Congrats to him. So for $75 I got this one, didn't want chrome but it seems to be the case with the Chinese repops, Ill make it black if I don't end up with an original but at least I can continue mocking up the rear wheel now.

Sand it good with some sand paper, self etching primer then satin black paint. In 100 miles it will look like everyone else's. Carry on.

Gotta ask, how do you remove the chrome electrically? Are we talking about going to a chromers shop and having him reverse the process or is this an in house method that could be replicated?

Oh boy, hold my beer and watch this!!!!

Anyone who even thinks about doing this, go outside. Chromium is bad.

Thanks for explaining, and thanks to whoever posted the video.

Finally got my axle parts, most anyway. Ugh, too much chrome going on. Why chrome the stuff? Why not just black phosphate, parkerize or even zinc? Its cheaper and not in your face!
