I Need a Book!

RE: I Need a Book!
Shovel Pat,
You can never have too many manuals, be they service or parts. interestingly, Clymer, though not the best of publications does contain bits of information not found in the factory pubs. Likewise, Haynes used to be an excellent manual back in the 70's and 80's but somewhere along the way (about 90 or so)the quality of the info and the pages themselves took a downward turn and now seem to be examples of chinese crapsmanship.
Try the paper booths at swap meets for earlier printings of Haynes (look on the first or second page for the printing date [not the copyright date])
Also, you may find it to be worthwhile to get a "70-78 1/2" factory manual for yours as the late 78-84 book leaves out some info.
Chilton put out a BIG thousand pager with all kinds of groovy tips on Harleys to be found nowhere else but caution on this one as you will need the edition {post 82]
that covers yours. This book also covers everything on 2 wheels but Schwinn........ comprehensive....like an eight-barrel shotgun.
E-bay is about the cheapest place for books. There I copped a fact. ser. man. from Lakeshore H-D for 40 bucks, brand new!

http://www.nortonsnakedbbq.com/hawgs...84FLHParts.pdf I am a believer in having all of the publications you can locate, whomever the author of the manual. You are right, the electronic is great when traveling, or out in the shop. Gotta love a laptop, sure saves a lot of space. Keep the rubber on the road...
