Default Shovel kicker clearnce mids and pipe issue

Hey guys i have a shovelhead question for you.....hopefully u could help.....i have a 79 shovelhead fxe came with forwards and no kicker arm or spring......i just bought a mid control setup and now i have a clearance issue with my kicker arm. I dont get a full rotation due to mid controls.

I also have a clearance issue with my kicker return spring on my rear pipe....possibly the reason the orevious owner didn't have and arm on it ...wondering if u could share some knowledge

.

All the pipes I see for a kicker go over about the middle of the kicker cover or behind it not in front of it. Also looks like your kicker arm is a few degrees off as in it should be closer to 12 o'clock position.

You'll be fine...put the correct [Jap looking] kicker onto it...the one it came with.... it will clear those pipes no sweat!! OOPs...just noticed the problem is Not Kicker lever to pipe interference... Those Chiwanese pipes will have to go I'm afraid...get the typical "cut across" rear pipe. Also available from the "import houses", on the Cheap... I run real pipes...but YMMV..Kinda like yer Choice of Air cleaner....

They sell an extended kicker shaft that moves the arm out almost 3/4" , bit pricey but well worth it for clearance issues with pipes and as you've been told those pipes won't work with a kicker.

Yeah, it doesn't look like that spring is going on with those pipes.
