Default starting problem

I have a 76 flh engine in a custom chassis. I just replaced the rocker boxes and removed the heads to do so. It ran fine before and now won't start. I am running an electronic ingnition with a super coil. New plugs and wires. It doesn't seem to be a coil problem. All it will do is backfire out of the front cylinder after the compression stroke. I don't know what I'm missing. Help me please.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be that I did not bleed the hydraulic lifters properly which caused the rod to bend the valve. You live and learn except your right it does cost too much money to learn like that.
