Harley Davidson garage door opener 91558-01a
I have 2010 CVO Softtail Convertible FLSTSE. I installed a HD garage door opener on my bike a couple of years ago. It worked great with my Craftsman garage door opener that I installed by in March of 2004. I recently had my garage door opener changed out for a Liftmaster 8355 with the My Q technology. So now my HD garage door opener does not work with my new opener. Does any one have any ideas? Thanks Dan Brown

Garage Door opener
Chances are you have to pair the bike with the opener. There is a "learn" button on the motor of the garage door opener. If you push that button and within 5-8 seconds push the open/close on the bike it should pair up. It may explain it better in the garage door opener instructions and I know the harley instruction mentioned it as well.
Hope this helps!!

My understanding is that the harley unit that plugs into the wall is a stand alone unit
When the Bike trips it , the signal goes to the harley opener the via the 2 wires from the module it trips the garage door
Similar to a wall mounted opener in the garage. So garage door shouldnt need to be paired, I think you only pairing is the harley unit to the Bike.
You can test it by activating the bike portion, Mine is high beam then low beam. have someone see if the Harley module in the garage (Plug in unit) if flashes once, then its connected.
The next step would be to make sure the 2 wires from the Harley box are plugged into the garage door opener. (Same place as the factory wall mounted opener that came with the garage door opener)
If it doesnt flash then check the transmitter under the seat, it should also flash once when activated

Dan,
The new MyQ openers by Liftmaster, Chamberlain and Craftsman AssureLink use a serial data connection between the opener and wall control. The old style controls use a "dry contact" (relay closure) to effectively short out the control wires. This was fine when the wall control was nothing more than essentially a doorbell button. On the new openers, there is 12VDC power across those wires, and the control unit doesn't like them to be shorted (although it is protected against such shorts). For a proper solution, see www.creativeaccesssolutions.com for a couple options.
