Default SE Road King seat

I love, love, love the looks of the SE Road King seat. I want to purchase it, but can someone tell me how comfortable it is? Any other thoughts about it? I want to tour with it...bad/good idea? Would the rider backrest help? I am rambling....

Thanks

No issues with mine at all. It is on the firmer side, but this I like. The backrests are the first I've ever experience and like them as well. They are also slightly adjustable. Nice stich pattern as well, and one can buy the matching tail pack if so inclined. Net, no issues here and it will be on the bike a long time.

I think it suffers in the long haul comfort factor, I start noticing some discomfort about 300 miles into a run.

I'm going to replace mine or have it redone.

My *** goes numb after about 100 miles.

The backrest, though nice, pushes me too far foward to where my nuts are on the tank.

I'm a economy size rider though.

I bought a mustang solo for my SG. I'd like to keep the stictched flames on the SERK though.

Thanks everyone for the input. I think I will have to get that seat (the inlay flames match my flames on my bike) AND get an actual touring seat. Money in my checking account....I don't need it!!! lol

Thanks again,

p.s. DoCPoof: your bike is sick!!!

be careful on the SE rk seat. in 2002 they had sting ray inserts. depending on your climate you may experience the leather tearing in the seat where the stingray meets the leather. I have had two replaced. Finally changed to an 05 seat. different inserts. The problem comes from the fact that the sting ray is much more durable than the leather used in the seats. the stingray will not stretch like the leather. I've been working leather for some years and that is my opinion.

Looking to see how adjustable drivers backrest really is? The set screw behind the seat seems to do nothing when loosend to try to adjust. I also agree pushes you a little far forward and the jewel box is jammed into the tank.....

Hardly adjustable. The dealer decided to replace my stock SERK seat when noting it was poorly stiched. Because it was a warranty item the dealer wanted to make the seat swap. While they were at it I asked the rider backrest be leaned back more for my tall height. Technician moved it back as far as the adjustment would allow, and it was very, very, minimal... almost seems like how it was from the factory.
