Default 2006 SE Ultra Stock Exhaust - UPDATE

I was able to pick up a new set of take-offs at the dealer of 2006 SE Ultra mufflers.

Anybody have experience with these? What can I expect for sound?

I am thinking of using them on my '99 Flhr standard.

They are just that......stock exhaust....the same exhaust that came on your ride, but 4" diameter.

Return them and get some real free flowing exhausts.

So you don't think that mufflers for a 103 ci SE will flow any better thanstock exhausts for a '99 TC 88"?

The were only $25...wanna buy some shields or end caps? lol

The mufflers on a '06 SE Ultra have cats in them. Take a look in the forward end of the muffler and you will see what appears to be a honeycomb object. That's the catalytic converter. I tried to drill mine out. Didn't work. They are quite thick and would make you wonder how in the hell the bike can breathe.Like the previous post said. Take them back and buy some good mufflers. If you don't want something realloud I would suggest the Vance & Hines Ovals. Good luck.

The price was right but may not be a good match for your bike. Like the man said, they are cat converter equiped and weigh a ton. If you are carb. equiped and run rich those pipes will get really hot. Also they don't make much more sound than a stock muffler, which is NONE.

FYI all!

I was able to cleanly punch out the cats on these mufflers using a sharpened 1.5" pipe. Super clean cut through the cat which is now open directly into the baffle intake pipe. (not sure of terminology)

Now they flow very freely and have a nice deep rumble when I get on it. They are definatley louder than my stockers, very similar to the V & H Ovals I have heard, which is the effect that I wanted for my 2-up riding. No, "seat of the pants" drop in power whatsoever compared to the one-peice SE pipes I took off.

They look great on my bike and I am very happy with the $25 investment.

If you are happy, thats all that matters, $25 was a good price to try them out. I have a set of the 103 take offs that I am keeping just in case we have to start doing smogs on these someday.
