To Ultra or not to Ultra?

Maybe the Wing is... BUT the Wing is hotter at slow speeds, I wanted to knock that fairing off that Wing w/ a hammer one day in 111* in 2nd gear. Believe it or not you can pack a lot more stuff in an Ultra and it doesn't fall out in the road when you open the bags.

'07 Ultra - 12-15k per year - no issues, love the bike - Would do it again in a heartbeat.
Yup it gets hot, but so does anything on two wheels in Atlanta in the summer
There are inexpensive and easy things you can do to mitigate some of this, but basically, as long as you are moving, you are fine. Again, no other bike would be any different in the same climate/conditions.
Not sold on the new bikes - they run hotter (epa rules, you know) cost more to deal with because of the new catalyst exhaust systems, and IMHO, are not worth the extra price tag for a fatter rear tire and one gallon larger fuel tank.

I've a '07 CVO Ultra and have not regretted adding it to the garage for a second. True it can be a hot ride in rush hour traffic in the Dallas summers but so can my Road King. Your legs will just about catch on fire if you are stopped in traffice on either bike, just a few minutes earlier on the Ultra.
We ride year round and the Ultra is an outstanding cold weather bike as well. The wife and i road from Minneapolis to Dallas never got above the low 30s all the way. Used only the heated grips and heated seat never connected up the vests, actually had to turn the seat off every now and then, was getting a bit too warm on the backside.
The only real thing I’ve ever wondered about is if I should have waited another year for the ABS.

I decided: TO Ultra
Thanks to everyone for all the advise...I am now the PROUD owner of a 2009 Ultra Classic - color is Red Hot Sun, Rinehart exhaust, windshield bags, chrome control housings, saddle bags covers and pouches, satelite radio, 14,300 miles, extended service and tire/wheel warranties, tweeter speakers on fairing, chrome speaker trim...and probably something I left off. Road about 250 miles today and loved it. Picture should be attached....
