Thumbs down Fork oil change

My 2008 CUSE3 has 43 thousand miles on it and I am starting to think about the 50,000 mile service which includes fork oil change and neck bearing replacement. My local dealer said that is a 7 hour service and cost $800.00. I wonder if it is realy nessary to do all that at 50k since the bike will just be 2 years old untill March 28, 2010.

I would have to say do the service, thats why they have recommended service interivals. Service goes by either time or miles, which ever comes first.

Just do it yourself and save all of that money. It is really easy if you know how to do it.

How big are you? Remember Harley's come from the factory set up for 5'8"-5'10" 180 pound people. If you are normal size, you will most likely appreciate new oil, heavier oil, more oil. The bike comes with light weight oil, I use the medium weight oil and an extra 3/4 ounce in the fork. Low cost fix.

Replace neck bearings at 50k? Unless they are worn out there is no reason to replace them. Some bikes have a grease fitting for the neck bearings, if so , just give it a shot of grease and save a couple hundred bucks.
