Default 103 starter grinding

I have a 2003 Screamin Eagle Road King with the same starter problem, with the primary cover off and the pug wires off it sounds like hell and the clutch and ring gear are wobbling, with the spark plugs out (no compression or real strain on the starter) it turns true, I thought the bearings in the clutch hub assembly were bad so I bought the whole assembly, same noise, today I took the main shaft out of the transmission, bearings all look fine. So I put the main shaft in a vise and bolted the clutch assembly back on. I can feel the clutch moving on the shaft. So I have a new trans. main shaft coming. I am going to remove all the oil from the new main shaft and inside the splines on the new clutch hub and then coat the splines with red locktite and let it set overnight before I try the starter. It seems to me that this should be a press fit and its not by any means. If I`m on the wrong track here , someone please let me know. I have 47500 miles on my bike and this starter problem started at 39800 or so. I always thought these Harleys were good for a hell of a lot more miles than that
