Once bitten, Twice shy
I was out for a short ride yesterday, stopped by my local indy, started home and just about made it,... when the engine sputtered but kept going, then about a mile from the original spot the engine started sputtering and died. I checked everything as far as looking at all of the connections that I could see, I even took off the air filter to see if maybe it was clogged or see if the engine flooded some how, everything looked good. I called the OL to let her know I was having problems and then called over to my Indy's shop, the first thing he asked was, is there gas in the tank? to which I replied the gauge shows full, and he says again, is there gas in the tank? I immediately checked my trip meter and said $h!t, (too many miles on that tank for it to be full), popped the cap and had a look, yep I was out of gas.
Now this is the second time the gauge has went out on my bike, what gives with my gas gauge problems? the first time it happened I had filled up and the low fuel light stayed on, this time nothing, until after I get it to the gas station and filled up then the low fuel light came on. Anyone know if perhaps these gauges are some cheap Chinese junk of are they suppose to be good stuff?

Yeah, I usually don't use the gauge, I ride to work all week, and on payday stop and fill up, if I do any other riding I usually look at my trip meter, but for some reason it did not even compute Friday. I don't know if it was just the good riding weather or if my mind was elsewhere.
I rode it in to work tonight and now the fuel gauge is flashing (might be some type of code) one dot, one dot, three dots, full range, and starts back over

Yeah, 30 mpg sounds about right, for this time of year, with it being cold here I allow it to run longer when first started, I was not averaging but about 32-35 during the summer (when last checked)

Now, back to the OP's question...I haven't experienced any issues with my fuel gauge. If your bike is still under warranty, take it into the dealer and get it resolved.

It is still under warranty, and I need to go ahead and get it back to my dealer to allow them to fix this, and do the recall work, but right now it is my only method of travel, my truck is in the shop also.
