How short do you have to be...
to use the windshield and backrests Harley gives you with the FLHRSE4.
I tried mine for the first time yesterday and I got a mile away from home before I turned around to go home and take them off. The wind buffets my head and the backrest moves me uncomfortably foward.
Am I doing something wrong or do these things not work for people six feet tall. I also hate the seat and I'm looking for suggestions on something that will move me rearward and down.

I am 5'8" and I am getting some but not a lot of buffeting via the windshield - I see they sell a taller one (no I do not want to spend more $).
The back rest is adjustable in two ways. You can use the middle allen nut to adjust the angle of the rest. The second way is how it is mounted beneath the seat. Mine came to me all the way back and I wish it was able to go back further, but I am getting used to it. There are three mounting holes to change the position of the mount however. So labrat07 you may be able to move that back rest forward.

The back rest is also height adjustable. Simply squeeze the two frame bars and raise or lower it to the next mounting holes.
For the buffeting I installed the Chrome Front Air Baffle, part 58520-79TC. It made a small difference by reducing the buffeting nearest my face. I wear a full helmet and keep the face shield open a bit at times so this may not be the solution for others. I plan to change the wind deflector so that or a combination with the bafflemay be my solution.
I'm six feet tall and find the seat acceptable. And I now use the back rest full time. It just works for me.

I'll have to pull the seat and take a look. The seat is so deep that it's pretty comfortable without the backrest, so I really don't miss it. I had a 3 piece Mustang on my old bike and I hated riding without the backrest. I'm amazed how comfortable the stock seat is and can't beat the heating feature.

Yeah, not sure about other years, but the '07 and 08's have a dual control heated seat. Between this and the amount of heat that comes off the 110", it is nice and toasty on cool days.
