Default Buying Used 15 CVO Limited

Hey all - thinking about pulling the trigger on my dream bike - 2015 CVO Limited in Gold Dust 😍 ... It’ll be my 5th HD, and I know basic stuff to look for, but we’re there any specific problems with that year that I should have my eyes and or ears peeled for when I go for a test ride later today?

No problems that I'm aware of.

I
also heard that some have had issues with the water pump and that when it needs to be replaced, to use the M8 water pump.

Lifters at or after 15,000 to 18,000 miles

Water pumps after 30,000 miles

Otherwise, roll up those miles!!!

How do you know when it’s time to replace the lifters? Noise or performance issue?

For me, it was noise.

The noise started first, which kinda got my attention at first, then we would have some performance issues, especially during shifting in lower gears. The engine fell flat once or twice and my wife actually asked what is going on, I told her something is not right, and off to the dealer for an engine upgrade was approved by the wife.

We did catch a bad lifter early, which would have made some serious damage if left unrepaired. But, I got a nice major power upgrade out of the deal.

on lifters, don't wait for the noise or a sign. They can cause the engine to grenade if not caught at the right time. Don't go past 20K miles to be safe. Rapid lift of the SE255 cam and heavy springs make for short lifter lifter. consider a cam change and maybe even doing the heads with new springs to extend lifter life and improve performance.
Make sure to get a proper dyno tune to reduce the heat

Rode mine for over 56,000 miles before trading. Had a water pump go bad around 35,000 miles but the stock lifters never caused any problems. Had a radio amp replaced along with a couple of speedometer/tachometer due to the streaking on the inside of the glass.
