Default 110 oil leak

At about 4000 miles I started to get an oil ooze, real light, around the base of the cylinders. Wanted to wait till the 5000 mile check to have it looked at. Yesterday did a 300 mile ride, got home with 5295 miles and had oil streaked down the side of the bags, looks like the slow ooze has gotten bigger. Took it in this morning for the 5000 mile check and to have the gaskets looked at. Told them I wanted both gaskets replaced and I also asked them to check the rocker box clearance and crank tolerance as long as they had itopen since I’ve read a few posts on that too. Let you know if anything weird comes up. Still love the bike and am more than satisfied with it. It was going in anyway so the leak doesn’t really cost me any inconvenience, may just cost an extra day or so in down time, we'll see. Aside from the oil leak the bike has been excellent. No heat problems or other issues.

Bikes done, it was the O rings. They checked everything else out, replaced all the other gaslets. The rocker box and crank were within tolerance so that was good. Just in time for the weekend!
Cheers.

Glad to hear everything worked out! Which o rings were replaced and did they tell you exactly what the crank runout was?

I don't recall which O rings and didn't ask about the run out. Both more than likely would have messed my hair up going over my head, i'm not much of a wrench. Next time in i'll ask. Put 400 miles on this weekend and no leaks yet.

I have the same type of oil leak oozing then just oil running off the rear cylinder and looks like leaking around base of front cylinder! took it in to see why it was leaking they pulled it apart and said it looks like a porosity problem not gaskets, So a word to all keep your eye on your leak. because that leak might be seeping through the metal rather than though a gasket!!!!!!!!!!

There should be no friggin way an O-ring should leak in that application. They can withstand probably close to 1000lbs or more of pressure if they have been captured correctly with the appropriate machining, and the installer didn't damage it during install. Can't these guys at HD get anything right?
