Installation Chrome Starter Solenoid Cover

Installation Chrome Starter Solenoid Cover
Okay, so today I bought the chrome starter solenoid cover. Easy upgrade, or so I thought...
After getting the bolts out (covered in wrinkle paint), I tried to pull the factory cover off only to realize that the factory cover has been encased in wrinkle paint and fused to the starter.
This is ridiculous!
I thought about using a razor blade to cut through it, but it is several millimeters thick and then I could maybe only get two sides of it. Then I would be forced to twist or slowly bend it off and I know that it will cause the paint to flake off the starter.
How am I supposed to get the old one off without breaking the seal and having all the wrinkle coating flake off the starter?
Has anyone else had this issue?

RE: Installation Chrome Starter Solenoid Cover
I have an 01 RKC and added the chrome cover a couple of weeks ago. The factory cover was a little tightbut I gave it a little help with a flat head screw driver edge, taped over the end to keep from scratching, it came right off and I didn't notice any chipping on the body of the starter. Hope that helps.
Good luck.
Good luck.
