Default Can't find neutral

Obviously I am having a hell of a time finding neutral when the engine is hot. I keep passing it and cannot hit it with my foot. Is this normal? I can only find it when I shut the engine off and use my hand, or wait until the engine/tranny has cooled.

Also the Transmission clunks when shifiting gears, this doesn't sound normal to me.

Are all H-D's this way?

mine was hard to find the first few hundred miles but after that its ok. At 1000 mi I put in a good oil in the trans, alot of subjects on trans noise and fluid to use on this and the touring forum.

Put syntheticgear oil in the tranny.
I use Amsoil 75-90 but I'm sure Redline, Mobil 1, etc are just as good.
Changed mine immediately.

My bike is a SE CVO that already had SYN3 in it from the factory. Will see how it performs when I get some more miles on it. She is in break-in now... Maybe will change from SYN3 later, especially because of the high cost.

It does get better over the miles... mine is still in break-in but can definitely see an improvement since the early days. In the meantime, it does help to find neutral while the bike is moving slightly versus at a dead stop.

Mine was difficult to find neutral the first few hundred miles, it slowly got better with time. I had them put Formula+ in at 1K service and it seemed to lessen the Clunk when shifting gears so I had them put it in again at the 5K service and now neutral is harder to find and it seems to clunk more then prior to the 5K service. Who knows!

Don,t waste your time with that syn-3 junk. Put Redline Heavy shockproof in and a lot if not all of your problems will go away.Been there, done that and Im over it. Its a no brainer on changing it yourself. Less than 1 quart of oil. Dan

Sounds like a clutch adjust situation to me. By the way, what model bike are we talking about?

I found when stopped in 1st, slightly increase rpms while easing it into neutral. A little practice and it becomes 2nd nature.
