FXDSE mirror question

FXDSE mirror question
I have read on several posts that HD is willing to replace the mirrors on the 2007 FXDSE. Before I go to have my replaced, I was wondering if it actualy corrects the problem? I really like the way the "stock" ones look, but, I agree the are useless.
Thanks for your help

RE: FXDSE mirror question
That is a good question. . . I have mine scheduled to go in for service in 2 weeks and will then try a couple of different mirror designs to see if it solves the problem. Personally, I think the riser-less direct mount handlebars are50% of the problem, the large stroked thumper 35% and the slotted stemed mirrors the remaining 15% of the problem.
Now stay with me here . . . imagine a small vibration from the motor being transmitted thru the frame and triple tree to the handlebars - if that vibration was say a 3 on the scale - by the time it traveled up and out a 12" long piece of tubing might be a 5 on the scale - now imagine it traveling up and out a 24" long metal tube it would now be a 8 on the scale. The handlebar design of the FXDSE has much longer metal tubes than do conventional bars, and I believe there in lies much of the problem. Using solid stemmed mirrors will help the problem, but I'm afraid it will not eliminate the problem.
Just my two cents worth . . .

RE: FXDSE mirror question
Can't answer that - yet - but hope to soon. I've gotten the "go ahead" from the MOCO and have a reference # to do so. But like you, I also like the way the mirrors are styled and look on the scoot so I need to see what other's are out there that will look good.
If not, well, then I'll live w/ the shake.

RE: FXDSE mirror question
I have replaced my stock mirrors with 'Bullet Mirrors' part number 91657-02. This has totally cleared up the problem. They do not look as good as the stock mirrors ~but I think they look not bad and I can see perfectly with them on the bike which to me is more important. Harley Canada said they are not aware of any problems!? HD wouldnot replace the mirrors, but my dealer swaped mirrors for me at his own cost.
