RE: BAD 110 Motor Whats harley going to do?
Front cylinder noise?what kind of noise. Many 96 inch owners have been complaining about tranny noises but when my bike was tested by HDs higher ups it was said to be coming from front cylinder. This is a real mess for some owners this yr.You guys that have had engines replaced are the luck ones and this seems to be HDs way of dealing with it.Wait till it explodes! Some eng builders have posted that crank pin fit is very low and allowing flywheels to shift-bigger inch motors have an easier time doing this.Runout on some builds is very excessive and the oil pumps arent going to last very long.Funny how they tell everyone its normal yet come out w/the SB903 to tame the shock loadsome of these lower ends are seeing.Welcoe back to AMF dazes!

Is this a isolated incodent or a wide spread problem ? The reason I ask I was interested in buying a 07 screaming eagle ultra with a 1000 miles on it. Thanks. Bob.

5,000 miles on my 07 SE Ultra and no problems. And it runs great. Of course it has the SERT, SE Mufflers and air cleaner. Had a intake manifold leak, but that's the worst of the problems. Happy I have a 7 year extended warranty.

Here is the deal on the 110' motor....the wheels will shift if you lug the motor...I know I know your saying you don't lug the motor, but thats what does it. Remember the download that was to be done to the 110....that down load removed timing in the lower rpm area so when the customer did lug it the power wouldn't be as high and have less effect on the wheels. You ask how does this happen...good question. At the lower rpm under a load (lugging) the compensator spring bottoms out and it literally hammers the sprocket shaft which in turns shifts the wheels. So keep the rpms up higher, run it harder, and don't lug it and you will have a much happier motor.
This isn't a concern in the smaller motors because the displacement being smaller doesn'tbottom out(hammer) the compensator spring so hard. Maybe a stiffer spring will be out soon for the 110' who knows.
Ride it like you stole it and I promise you you will get more than 3000 miles out of Her......

They're not pushing the envelope.
They just have morons running their engine R&D.
They have no development at all. There is just no good excuse for these problems.
If it weren't for the competition biting their heals, nothing would have changed from the AMF days...
