Default 2005 FLHTCUSE2 would you buy?

Hi guys,
Looking at getting back into a motorcycle after a 2 year absence. I found this '05 SE Ultra for $18,500 out the door.

Does that seem like a good deal or not? I'm not sure with it being a SE if it holds more value than a regular Ultra? Is there anything on this year bike that I should look out for? Common problems?

Thanks,
Jon

That sounds about right pricewise if you can like the yellow. 22xxx miles isn't bad for a 2005 and yes the cvo's hold there value pretty well.

Actually at first I didn't like it, but after looking at it and thinking "How many yellow Harleys' are there out there?" It's growing on me. Most likely wouldn't see a ton of them on the road either. They had a '07 Ultra (Non SE) as well for $15k, but I figured by the time I was done changing things I'd probably have that extra coin and then some and not have a SE. So we will see. After an '08 Anniversary Road King Classic this should be a nice step up in the bike department.

Yeah I think I would go with SE over the 07 Ultra, a lot more goodies on the SE and the bigger engine. Does the SE have a 5 or 6 speed?

I believe this one still has a 5 speed being an '05, but I could be wrong.

5 speed and a 95" Stage II motor, S/E 203 cams standard from the Factory .(Not the best crank shaft set up (vs '99 - '02) but still a pretty good motor IMO.

(I'd take it over a 96" '07 motor in a heartbeat.)

With all the Rushmore changes I would spend a few thousand extra and get a '14 or '15 stock Ultra.

If you like it go for it, a friend of mine sold his 05 CVO last fall for about the same price.

He currently has a 2013 Anniversary edition CVO Ultra and a 14 CVO RK, he wont own anything but the best and I admit, they are pretty nice.

The heart want's what the heart want's and making a stocker look as good as a CVO is pricey. Normally I would agree with you but we paid more for a 2009 fat bob last fall than the new 2015's were when they hit the showroom floor. Momma loves her CVO and I must admit they are stunning machines.

This was one of the most sought after cvo's in its day. 22k miles means its been ridden about 2-3k miles a year, which is nothing. Worth taking a look at for sure. 18k is not bad. The 2015 version would set you back over $42k out the door.

I totally agree!

Those CVO 103's of years past would blow the pants off any of the new stock 103" motors of present!

@OP- go for it, the YELLOW CVO's are really the fastest colors. Don't ask me how I know this.
