Cvo Street Glide audio Speaker Upgrade
Hello, I have a 2011 Cvo street glide, I was wanting to up grade the speakers to get a better sound quality.. I'm just wanting to change the speakers out I don't want to install a amp and all that other stuff.. I know the ohms on a cvo are different Than a non cvo model.. Anyone have any recommendations of what they have changed there's out with? Thanks!

Not sure what your 2011 has for a radio, but I assume is quite different than the 2012. Ohms are funny, put two 4 ohm speakers in parallel and you have 2 ohms; put them in series and you have 8 ohms. I believe I have 1 ohm in my 2012 because the speakers are in parallel. You can put a 4 or 8 ohm speaker on a radio that is a 2 ohm radio, but you cannot put a 2 ohm speaker on a 4 ohm radio.
I have a 2012 CVO and also want better speakers with the rest of the system being stock CVO.
What I have found is that most folks say the radio head unit is junk, the amps are junk and the speakers are junk, so if you upgrade your speakers without upgrading your amps and HU, then you are just pissing in the wind.
I have four speakers and two tweeters up front, and two speakers in the saddlebags.. Im going to replace the Lowers speakers with Infinity Kappa 62.11i speakers for about $83 and just **** in the wind. If I like it, I may buy two more and adapter rings and put them in the fairing and really start pissing in the wind.
You (not me) can install a PBR300/2 two channel amp for your front speakers much easier than i can, that's about a $150 amp. With the PBR300/2 amp and Kappa speakers you'd really be pissing in the wind for under $300.
You (not me) can also instal a really nice Jensen direct replacement radio for about $400, i think, might be 500. Then you would'nt be pissing in the wind, you have a kick *** stereo system.
You can also drop thousands at BT if you want. I guess it all depends on what you value most. At speed, most radios sound like crap anyway, or too loud for ear safety.

I just replace the head unit, uppers, lowers and the boom amp in the fairing.
I used Kicker CS speakers, Soundstream amp, and an Alpine deck.
To me the sound is louder (by a lot) and clear. I have the wiring diagram, so I bastardised the old amp wiring to wire my new amp, and the lowers. I left the tweeters out of the mix, since they wouldn't have been worth a ****.
I soldered the rear out, to the rear out in the factory harness. The boom amp and speakers in the bags, actually improved by around 40-50%. I was shocked. The speakers are still ****, but I ordered polk 5x7's to replace them. At that point, I'm certain I'll be happy.
I would say the head unit change is equally as important for sound quality. Plus you get to use your phone, or a usb device.

When we rode at highway speed with the stock "boom" system, we couldn't hear anything.

Imagine this. You are going down the highway at about 70mph. You turn your stereo up where you can "hear" it over the wind noise and it sounds ok. (With the speed AVC disabled)
Now pull over and stop and see how loud it really is while sitting still.
Now think about your ears and hearing damage.
I ride with ear plugs because of wind noise. I need a stereo I can hear while wearing ear plugs, and still not damage my hearing. I really just need ear buds, but what fun is that.
While I'm installing my amp, I may put in a jack for earbuds off the rear set of HU outputs.
