Default 4"

hello
i have a 2011 street glide that ive done a stage 1 kit on with a set of 3.5" slip-ons but have been wanting to put on a set of 4".
my question is how much of a difference in sound will there be between the 3.5" & the 4"?
thanks in advance Dave

Thanks for choosing Rush!

The main difference will be the appearance of the larger diameter.
The 3.5" slip-on and our 4" slip-on, the Big Louie, share the same
baffle design principles so you can expect a similar deep and aggressive sound.
The volume will be almost identical but it will have a slightly deeper tone.
Tuning will be the same if using the same baffle size.
Please let me know if you would like more info.
Thanks,
Ryan

the only thing really thats keeping me from getting the 4" is that ive only had the bike for couple months (4,000 miles) & the 3.5" are brand new. i still have the cat in the head pipe & have removed the 2.5" baffles out completely for a better sound but i wish it was just a bit deeper tone. also like the slash up cut the way it matches the back of the bags.
so it would be the BIG LOUIE slip ons?
can you get them in a slash up cut? (NEVER MIND I SEE THEY COME IN THE SLASH UP)
& i just have the down load from harley for tuning would this still work with these pipes?

would really love to go with the 4", are you going to be having any sales soon?

thanks again Dave

If you want to get a deeper sound, I would hold off on the Big Louie and invest in aftermarket headers such as true duals. The cat in the stock headpipe is the limiting factor on the sound and removing it is the best way to get a deeper/louder sound out of the exhaust. Changing the headpipes to true duals and using the 2.25" or 2.00" baffle in our slip on will produce a solid/deep tone. Plus our true duals are ceramic coated inside and out so you get huge heat reductions. Since our true duals are only $10 more than the Big Louie, that is how I would invest my own money if I was looking for a deeper sound. There will be additional costs for installing and tuning a fuel management system with any headpipe upgrades.
Just my opinion but I felt like sharing because I would hate for you to spend hundreds of dollars on new slipons and only get a slight change in the tone.

wow!! thats great information. i appreciate the honesty, thanks.
now if i go with the ceramic coated head pipe will all the factory chrome pipe covers fit over the new head pipe?
will the head pipe come with the correct O2 bungs for a 2011 year?
& last question you say fuel management, so my download from the HARLEY dealer for my stage one wont be enough?

thanks again for all your help Dave

The true duals come with chrome or black heatshields. They do not reuse the stock shields. For the bungs, they come with both sets of O2 bungs and plugs for the ones not required. Most aftermarket headpipes are setup this way.
Unfortunately the download will not be enough for use with true duals. Any of the plug and play fuel management systems, such as ones with downloadable maps, will work great and same some dyno costs. Dyno tuning is the best way to go but the plug and play systems will still get the job done and save you lots of money. Companies such as DynoJet and V&H provide downloadable maps for our products. If they don't have the exact one listed, a quick call to their tech support will get you setup with an appropriate map.
