Default Riding over the Great Lakes in Canada

My wife and I are riding to Niagra Falls this month and are coming back over the great lakes in Canada. Just wondering if there is any tips out there from anyone who has made this trip.

What is your intended route each way? North of L. Michigan or South of L. Michigan? Some good riding around the shores of L. Michigan and Superior.
If South of L. Michigan, I'd advise to stay South of I80 and Chicago.
As for your return through Canada, I rode from Michigan to Vermont a couple years ago through Eastern Ontario. Highway 17 was pretty uneventful and Boring. Hopefully someone can help there.
I am however planning a trip around Superior in a couple weeks and that looks much more interesting. Check out lakesuperiorcircletour.
Have a safe trip!

i just finished an across Canada trip and went over the lakes on the Trans Canada , it was a scenic ride , just be careful of the speed limits as the OPP were everywhere . The limit is mostly 90KPH , about 56 mph and they will ticket at 100 , 62 mph .

My plan is to go highway 2 across MN, Wisconsin and the UP. I will cut down through Michigan and come to Niagra Falls on the Canadian side. My plans is to then go north and over the great lakes and come back into the US at Thunder bay.

Did basically your same trip, but in opposite direction. When I did research for that trip, the only concern that came up was making sure I knew were gas stations were. I didn't top off one morning before leaving hotel and should have.
If you plan to cross at Port Huron, might want to plan around rush hour traffic. We sat in traffic for over two hours.
Enjoy your ride.

Thanks for the feed Back. I am looking for something on gas station locations to kind of have an idea where to fill up. Good info on crossing the port. Any Canadian motorcycle laws to be aware of?

Like was already posted, watch your speed and wear your helmet. We had no problems.

Canada = helmet. The top side of Lake superior is awesome up out of the Soo and over towards Thunder Bay. Watch for large critters like Moose, Bear, Deer. If you like water falls, a side trip to Kakabeka Falls north of thunder bay is well worth the 20 kilos to see it.
