Default CO-WY route advice

I'm heading from Denver to Jackson Hole in a couple of weeks via Steamboat on US 40. I'm overnighting in Rock Springs. Trying to decide between Hwy 13 north from Craig to I80, or 191 north from Vernal UT. Anyone have any experience and/or advice about these two roads?

Thanks guys

Take 191. It's much more scenic and will let you avoid more of I-80, which is not a fun ride.

Any particular reason to go to Rock Springs? If not, consider this option:

Stay on US 40 to Duchesne, UT. Take a right on 87, then a left on 35 through Hanna and over Wolf Creek pass to Francis. Then head north to Kamas and take highway 150, the Mirror Lake Highway, over to Evanston.

You could still go on to Rock Springs, I suppose, but if your destination is Jackson there's no need and it's about 100 miles from Evanston to Rock Springs.

The last time I went over Wolf Creek Pass, probably 25 years ago - it wasn't paved all the way. It must be paved now?

Very good advice from Atticus, take it, much better ride, if you decide not to, take 191

I appreciate the input guys, I'm going to poke those ideas around a bit. I think I'm leaning towards 191. If it was just me solo, I'd definitely be into taking the long way. Back roads and small town diners are awesome. The g/f has only been riding for a couple of years and this will be my longest trip with her so I don't want to push too hard. She loves riding (on the back) so far, I want to make sure I keep it that way. When Mama's happy....

Thanks again for the info!
