Trip to Adirondacks NY
We're heading to the Adirondacks in a couple month. Staying in Saranac Lake. I know there are lots of scenic roads in the area. Are there any specifics we should make sure we hit? How about going up to Whiteface Mountain... worth it? How about that road (#2) that cuts through the middle of Lake Champlain? Looks cool on a map, but not sure if it should be a priority.
Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Not sure where you are coming from but I live near Pittsburgh,Pa.and made a trip up there last year. I traveled through the Finger Lakes area from Watkins Glenn to Seneca Falls, very scenic. Went over to Skaneateles and took a dinner tour on the lake to see how the other half lives which was well worth the time. From there we headed to Oswego on Lake Ontario up to Sacketts Harbor. From there we took RTE.3 into the Adirondacks over to Saranac Lake and on to Lake Placid. Only spent one night in Lake Placid but it was a neat little town with some great restaurants and little shops.Wanted to do the bobsled run but didn't have the time. We skipped Whiteface Mtn.because they wanted some outrageous fee to travel the road up to it which wasn't that great of a road anyways. We also had planned on seeing Lake Champlain but didn't have the time for that, heard it was awesome. From Lake Placid we took RTE.86 to RTE.9N to Keeseville, then RTE.22 south to Ticonderoga. From there we took RTE.9N south to Lake George. This was a great little town also with lots to do and plenty to eat. From there we took RTE.28 west to Blue Mtn. Lake then over to Alder Creek. These were all very scenic and nice roads with plenty of interesting things to see.

Not much activity on this thread, but thanks for the few recommendations. Looking at a map, there seems to be a few "loops" through the Adirondacks that we can ride over a few days. Plan to visit towns of Lake Placid and Lake George and I'm sure we'll find some other hidden gems along the way.

A couple years ago we stayed in Lake George and did Lake Placid/VT and rode the whole area. It was just after all the flooding in NY/VT and lots of roads where closed. It was amazing seeing all the devastation after all that rain.
It's a fantastic area to ride and we'll be doing that area again.
