We stayed in Booth Bay Maine, made for tourists but a bit more mellow. If you go, take the ride to Cabbage Island for the lobster bake, money very well spent.

I took a group of riders from Atlanta to Bar Harbor, Maine last September. We stayed a little south of Bar Harbor in Rockport at a hotel called the Glen Cove Inn. Great people and motorcycle friendly....overlooking the coast. it is about and hour to Bar Harbor from there. While in the area, try Young's Lobster Pound in Belfast. Enjoy your trip.

Bar Harbor will be extremely busy that time of year[ and costly ] if the weathers great and your there, ride Cadilac MT--well worth the time. Tough to give hotel/motel advice everyone has a different budget and taste. We stay in Maine 8-10 times a summer sometimes more and pay $99--$289 a night depending on our plans --Youre an hr away in Bangor and they have chain hotels, or Ellsworth towards Bar Harbor has motels scattered all along the way. Google map the area and put motels nearby they will all pop up and give you an idea. Rocker

Rockport is at least 2 hours from BH off season (it's an hour to Belfast).... and all bets are off in August!

As mentioned, BH will be busy that time, but with some planning, you can get a good room to fit your budget. Just showing up w/o a reservation and you will have limited options, but rooms will be available, maybe not where you want to stay or in your price range, but available. You will be able to find rooms in Bangor easy enough, as well as Ellsworth, but there is a definite advantage to staying downtown BH and being able to walk to eateries and indulge in adult beverage or two w/o riding afterwards.

Riding up to the top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park is awesome, as is the entire park loop road, as well riding on the entire island.

PM me your budget and I can send you a few places to stay downtown if you want. I live downtown BH year round.
