Book your rooms now We were there for a week we parked the bike for the first day and took the all day bus tour thru the whole park it takes about 8 hours you stop at several places and at old faithful for lunch then we spent the rest of the week going back to all of the places that we were interested in or did not stop at during the tour. We were there the last week of May not many people there school was still going and in the mountain passes there was still about 6 feet of snow on the ground in some places

I spent a day in Yellowstone 2 years ago and spent a night in a cabin at Yellowstone Lake. I agree with others in that you will need to reserve a room early and the park is much larger and more spread out than you would think. Seeing the wildlife up close and personal is awesome but can be a little unnerving also. No cage to protect you when a tourist pisses off the bisons. I also entered the park from Cody, coming in from Red Lodge throughout the Bear Tooth Pass and Chief Joseph Highway. Those two roads were better than anything I saw in Yellowstone. I was pushed for time and only got to see the lower side of the figure 8 in the park and I left it through the south and the Grand Tetons which are a must see.

You're going to miss 95% of the Park. Not much on that route in the Park other than Fishing Bridge and the west side of the lake. I'd spend the night in Cody (see the museum and the rodeo) and leave the next morning via the east entrance. Hang a right at Fishing Bridge and follow the loop all the way around to Old Faithful then exit to Jackson. That in my opinion will let you see most of the attractions in Yellowstone.
