Default Southern Idaho

I have been through northern Idaho already and plan on coming to the southern side this summer. Let me know details on what you thin. Coming from Iowa.

Island Park is nice, near Yellowstone National Park. You could check out Snake River Canyon near Twin Falls, that's where Evel Kneivel tried to jump and Shoshone Falls are right nearby.

A lot of southern Idaho is just farmland. Not as scenic as northern Idaho.

I'll just put one suggestion out there. If you find yourself in Salmon, ride 93 south following the Salmon river upstream. When you get to Stanley take that state road to the west that goes through Lowman and Idaho City to Boise.....or of course the other way around works too. Great ride. North of there is another nice ride. Take a look at your map, and you'll see a road that goes over to Brownlee Dam and across to the Wallowa Mtn. Scenic Drive, or something like that, but it takes you to Joseph, Oregon. You won't be disappointed.

Ya I have been up to Island Park. Beautiful up there. I was thinking of coming down to Pinedale Wyoming and the southern side of Jackson. Than go through the Rexburg area and there are some roads in the Sawtooth Mountains over to Boise. Than up to McCall and come back down by the Oregon border. Than follow the snake river in the southern end and maybe fall into northern Utah depending on the time of the week. I am just finding new areas to see out west because I am running out of places to see in the Rockies.

If you do ride 21 between Stanley and Lowman, i nice detour is 17 from Lowman to Banks. unfortunately, when you get to 55, there isn't much to do but turn around and go back. but thats ok, its a great ride both directions... Lowman to Idaho City is a great ride with lots of twisty s... a little farther north, if you haven't ridden highway 12 between Lolo Montana and Lewiston Idaho is a great ride also 60 or so miles of turns following the lochsa river...

Our son was stationed at Mountain Home AFB. The roads from there north into the mountains are awsome.

Took highway 12 a few years ago. Beautiful. Southern Idaho from what I understand will be mountains, farmland, and rivers.

From Hailey on 75 all the way up to Missoula on 93 are some of the best roads out there. Winding, scenic, following the river, great road.

When down south, Craters of the Moon National Park is pretty f-in cool. Who knew there was a 2000 year old lava flow/field in Idaho. Well worth the trip, but in August it was really hot and dry, bring water.

Ketchum was a nice town to crash in, go to dinner at Pioneer Saloon. Locals call it PIO. Good people and good steaks.

I will remember to try to stay in Ketchum. How big of a town is this? Is it really warm in late July in southern Idaho? I would think most would be mountain scenery so it would he ok as far as cool
