Milwaukee to South Bend

Yes, those of us who live in the South Bend area would like some nice curvy motorcycle roads to, but...........So if I was coming from Milwaukee, I would take I-94 to Chicago and pick up I-90. Take I-90 across the skyway bridge and stay on it till you see the exit for U.S. 12 (Dunes Highway). Take U.S. 12 up to New Buffalo, MI and get a beer and burger at Redamax. Follow U.S. 12 east to U.S. 31 and then south into South Bend.
Not the most direct route, but who needs "direct" routes on a motorcycle. New Buffalo is a quaint little Lake Michigan town and if you like to gamble, Four Winds Casino is close to New Buffalo. Oh,by the way, I wouldn't even consider getting off interstates until at least the way east side of Chicago - too much traffic and and too many stop lights. Not sure about back roads between Milwaukee and Chicago. And try to time getting gas in Indiana or Michigan - cheaper than around Chicago.
When you get to South Bend try The "Fiddler's Hearth" if you like Irish food and drink. It's downtown on Main St.
Other questions- let me know.

You can take several options down from Milwaukee. I like the routes through Racine and Kenosha. In Kenosha you can stop at Frank's Diner. Fun
When you come into Illinois, you can stay on Green Bay Road and go through the some expensive real estate. Get to Sheridan Road in Highland Park and go South Travel down the lake through Kenilworth and Wilmette, See the Bahai Temple. Beautiful. Then just south of the Bahai turn left with Sheridan Road and travel the Lake through Evanston. See Northwestern. Stay on Sheridan and you will enter Chicago. About 4 miles of city stop and go and get to Lake Shore Drive. The nations first "highway" Stay on LSD all the way into Chicago. Go to Jackson and go west. Stop at Lou Mitchells on the 500 West Block Route 66 begins right there. Then you can the expressway to Route 12 in Indiana. The Skyway is fun by the way.
