Default Shipping a bike

I have been mulling over a bunch of different options for rides that my lovely bride and I can take when I get home.

After reading a post a minute ago, I had a thought... What if I shipped my bike to the west coast and rode home from there? Hmmmmm
I do not have the time nor do I really want to put the miles on the old shovel to do a 'round trip.

Has anyone done this? What was the cost? Any advice on shippers?

Looks like I have some research to do.....

Thanx in advance.

You could always pay for the gas and let a friend drive it out there for you..........................[:@][:@]

I had my bike shipped from Seattle to Southern California recently and I used an Allied Van affiliate. If you google Allied Van and Motorcycle shipping there will be several companies that act on behalf of Allied. The cost wasn't bad, around $600 bucks. They have several trucks and a pallet system designed just for moving bikes. THey were very responsive and super careful with the bike - not a scratch on it. The guys loading and unloading took their time and treated it like it was their own bike. Thumbs up!

Good luck!

Thanx, I found some other things on the net too. Found a group that will ship it cross coast for $800. I decided to go ahead with the BRP trip this year that was already planned out. Going to do the Callifornia run next year or the year after. Thanxx for the input.

If you coordinate your trip with a rally (say Laughlin River Run in NV), then any dealer will ship them for you for reasonable ($500-600). I know it is not quite CA, but NV is great, You could always go North to Vegas then east to the Hoover Damn and the Grand Canyon.
