That's definitely the best (most scenic) route and you do want to get on the BRP from the beginning there.
The only possible downside of 441 from Gatlinburgh to the BRP if you're in any knid of a hurry, is that it's 2 lane and double yellow lined the whole way. I't not uncommon to run up on a long string of cages stuck behind a sightseer doing 20mph. It's more of a problem in the afternoon than early morning.
