If you are looking for interesting roads to ride on the way down, why not swing east after Mantua and catch Rte 170 from Poland, OH to Calcutta, OH? The 14th best ride in the country according to AMA. Then you could follow the river south on Rte 7 to 250. It won't be as good as The Dragon, but maybe more fun than your original route in Ohio.

I live at the foot of The Dragon. Not a bad road around here in Tennessee or NC. Deals Gap has a great burger. Also check out this web site www.touringdepot.com and click on the links for touring by state many good suggestions there.

The dragon was not bad. I didn't get to ride the gauntlet last year. I'd be hitting that while u r down that way.

Also the ride to Bald River Falls is a nice little detour off the Cherohala SkyHwy

We stayed at the Ironhorse Motorcycle Lodge (http://www.ironhorsenc.com) very nice, one word of warning, its a dry county so if you stay there stock up with beverages before you get there
we stayed at the philps motel in robinsville the owner had been there since 1944 nice quite place cheap rates and clean, has a fire pit restrant next door. the town is dry so you have to stock up before. met a pilot from northwest airlines there and shared our bevrages with him good time. them airplane pilots can put the stuff away, LOL like to go back and go into smokie mountains

I am from Youngstown and my group and I just did the Dragon about a month ago...plenty of twisties when u get down so we just took all freeway there...fyi, it seems to rain of and on quit often, probably due to the elevation and mountains....just get there and enjoy urself...Rt 7, 250 and all the others are not very far for u due in one day and back to the Cleveland area...Don't waste ur time on them now...u can do those roads anytime...we left from ytown and headed to canton to pick a friend and then proceeded to 77 South to 81...I know that way is 500 plus miles to get there and will take u at least 10 hours on a bike if u make one stop for an actual meal...good luck..
