Good reading, I've been contemplating a ride up to Colorado or Utah but thought it would be anti social to go alone. But y'all have convinced me to ride alone. I'll start planing tonight.
But it all sounds lonely, no one to share the experiences with....
My first "long" ride was from Phoenix to Mesquite NV. I rode with a guy I barely knew. He was dead weight and his dinking around turned a 6 hour ride into a 10 hour ordeal and it was 113 degrees! I travel solo now whenever possible.
I got back from Colorado with memories of landscapes, that will last me a lifetime. But also with a much greater appreciation for all you nuts out there who ride over 600 mi a day. Man, that is not easy! Salutes to all you long distance riders. And thanks again for the great tips. / Vic
Glad ya had a great ride! Where are the photos????
I was young, 21 I needed to get from Georgia to
Virginia to see friends in the military. I climbed on
and rode my bike. Friends and such come along
as you travel more, you will find the people to travel
with as you find the road to travel.
Heading down to Charleston SC in a couple weeks - 2 up...planning on taking 17 most of the way. Has anyone ridden it before? Good, bad, ugly? This will be my first "big" trip...realize after reading this thread that big is relative...but for me, right now...a 1000 mile round trip is big.
