Touring Virginia; The best roads

Touring Virginia; The best roads
Since it's winter and we all have cabin fever and spend the night looking over maps planning the big trip, here's my gift to you.
If you intend to ride through Virginia on Skyline Drive and or the BRP will you do it both ways? Are you interested in some awesome back roads Bunky?
Then get yourself "A Map of Scenic Roads in Virginia" This is available at any welcome center on the Interstate coming into Virginia. If you want a copy now or will be coming here on some backroad you can get a copy by writing to:
Office of Public Affairs, Virginia Department of Transportation 1401 E. Broad Street, Richmond, VA. 23219
or
VAmaps@ADOT,Virginia.gov (804) 786-2801
This map has the the Virginia byways in light green and the scenic roads in dark green. Any of them are good motorcycle roads.
Some of my own personal favorites are: 16 between Volney and Tazewell, 58 between Volney and Damascus, 61 & 623 into Burkes Garden, 61 to 42 to 311 to Paint Blank. My favorite way into or out of West Virginia is Rt. 39, 252,609,56 to the BRP. 39 runs along the Maury River and through the George Washington Nat. Forest. It's best done in the early morning as the mist comes off the river and the sun burns through the trees.
Anyone reading this post please list any little known maps or roads that seem to be local favorites.

Try Rt 33 toward Louisa, then 208 south to Rt 15 to Rt 6 back into Short Pump, beautiful, scenic ride....
Or Rt 60 west to Rt 29 north to Rt 250 back toward Richmond. THis route is mostly gently rolling rural 4-lanes....
Or 301 North to Rt 3 East all the way down to Topping, then 33 back toward town....
All short, easy, half-day (more or less) rides...

Grandslam, Depends a bit on how your getting there, but some of the known byways or scenic roads are; 6 running from Charlottesville to Richmond. Then near Richmond and just to the west are, 711,650,617,604,708,627. East would be 5 going to Williamsburg.
Instead of or in addition to the BRP & Skyline to the east is horse and wine country say, 20 north from Charlottesville into 231, 522 into Front Royal. To the west of BRP & Skyline are 42, 220 250, 615 and near Front Royal, 675,600,623 and Fort Valley Road.
Get the map. In the far SW hard along the Kentucky and West Virginia border are more back roads than I can list. These are all west of the BRP and I-81
